Load balancing with HAproxy

I have been working with HAproxy in AWS lately. There are things needed to do still, for example actually having two frontend servers and a separate db server, but those are in progress. Probably have to go with rsyncing the files directory between the servers as the video files are uploaded there as well as in S3, but it is an interesting problem to figure out. Most likely there will not be a separate NFS server for this as two frontend servers should do well for a while.

Also, now as I got HAproxy working, there is the possibility to drop the www. prefix which is really nice! ELB just does not support it, while with HAproxy it's simple. It would of course be nice to have two HAproxy instances, but I since elastic ips need to be bound to an instance, it might be difficult. Only way which comes to my mind is to have a cold backup with the aws tools to get the ip assigned again for the backup balancer... but this needs a lot more work.
